The Eh? Team!

It is add-on sketch week at Sketch Support and I decided to do a layout on Canada Day! My photos are from a few years ago (thank goodness I took a lot because they are some of my favourites).

Here is the sketch we were given.......

addon(JULY)

And here is my layout! The sketch inspired me to make the 3 embellishment squares along the bottom of page 2. I used some red & white bakers twine and gemstones.

The Eh? Team

Aren't they pretty? This was definitely a little fiddly, but worth it in the end.

The Eh? Team 2

One of my favourite parts of my layout is the title. I participated in a blog hop a few weeks ago and one of the sites had a FREE digital stamp. The title was perfect for my layout. You can check out Cheri's blog here!

The Eh? Team 3

For the stars I used a Die-namics die (I love these dies) and then added in some small silver star stickers that I found deep in my stash.

The Eh? Team 4

I just had to add a bit of stitching using my favourite 'Sew Easy' tool!

Off To Chicago!

In a few hours I will be high in the sky on my way to Chicago to attend CHA Summer 2011! It is going to be a quick 'in and out' trip where I will do a bunch of buying for the store.

Chicago is a beautiful city, but don't be too happy for me........I won't see any of it.

Don't get me wrong, I love my job! Who wouldn't love to attend CHA and be surrounded by all that scrapbooking goodness. Watch the Two Scrapbook Friends blog for updates on all the great things I find! See you in a couple of days :)

two-page(JULY)

Here is my take on it. I know the theme is a little out of season, but I had these photos I wanted to scrapbook. I pulled out the Apple Cider collection from Imaginisce and it worked perfectly!

Warm Memories Of Fall

Instead of the star theme I made a large tree using my Cricut.

Warm Memories Of Fall 2

I also made a little apple basket and used some of the canvas stickers to embellish.

Warm Memories Of Fall 3

This pumpkin was from the chipboard accents and I added 2 decorative pins to create this embellishment!

Warm Memories Of Fall 4

I used some of the rub-ons and some chipboard letters for my title.

Warm Memories Of Fall 5

Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win your very own copy of Volume 8!

Exploring Nature's Playground

This week at Sketch Support it is card sketch week. I like to make cards, but I love to make layouts so I turned the card sketch into a 2-page layout. I created my layout using the June Product Challenge kit at TSF! The colours in this kit screamed nature to me.

Here is the card sketch. You can download a copy for yourself on the Sketch Support site!

card(JULY)
Here is the layout that I created using the card sketch!

Exploring Nature's Playground

For my title I used a combination of stickers and chipboard letters.

Exploring Nature's Playground 3

It came with a small sheet of rub-ons and I used almost all of them. These words are rub-ons as well as the row of dashes along the blue strip.

Exploring Nature's Playground 5

I was sure to add my journaling.......an some stitching of course :)

Exploring Nature's Playground 2

My favourite part of this entire layout is this little quote area that I created. I used the quote and then added a box around it using a ruler and brown marker. I added a couple more rub-on elements and it looked fabulous!

Horseback Adventures!

Amanda loves to go horseback riding. Every summer she books a day and goes on a 2-hour trail ride. This year she went on Canada Day! That worked great for me because I was able to make it out to take some photos before her ride.

She always goes to Horseback Adventures! They do their trail rides along the Conestoga river so it is very scenic.

Here she is getting acquainted with all the horses.

Amanda was telling me that this was going to be the instructors horse. It was the biggest one in the line up!

Funny thing, it ended up being her horse!

Here she is, all saddled up and ready to ride.

I just love the head gear. Gotta keep that noggin safe :)

And they are off!

She had a great ride, but was rather stiff the next day. Her horse was a bit of a wanderer and ended up having to be attached to the lead horse so he would stay on the path. Now I am on the hunt for some papers I can use to scrapbook these photos.

Stitching Week - Faux Stitching

The final day for the stitching feature on the Sketch Support site was faux stitching. I think that this has just as great of an effect on a project as the hand or machine stitching.

I created this tag using one of Allison's add-on sketches and I added some faux stitching around the mug. It really makes it stand out against the background.

Hot Chocolate Tag

On this layout I used a border stamp that I have and some white ink. It gives the illusion of machine stitching without having to pull out my sewing machine.

Just Add Water

On this layout I used a white pen and did little dots to create the look of stitching. This is a very fun and easy technique.

Sunshine On My Shoulders

I hope you enjoyed this week of stitching highlights. It was fun for me to go back through my layouts and pick just a few to show you how I incorporated stitching. I hope you give it a try.

Stitching Week - Machine Stitching

I am not a big 'machine' stitching person, but I have pulled it out from time to time. On Thursday, Allison's stitching feature was all about machine stitching.

I was looking back through my pages and I came across this layout that I did for my very first appearance as a guest designer on her blog. I was really nervous and wanted to make a good impression, so I pulled out my sewing machine and stitched a border around my pattern paper.

Cool Dude

I used a contrasting thread colour so that it would show up against the light background.

Cool Dude 2

I was really easy to do, just like sewing fabric, only it is paper.

Cool Dude 3

Another layout that I found was for an article for Scrap Street (an online magazine). I used my sewing machine to sew each of the patterned squares for the background.

Autumn

This is one of my favourite layouts and I am really happy with the way that the machine stitching turned out.

Autumn 2

If you have a sewing machine, I recommend you try sewing on your pages. Be sure to pop over to the Sketch Support site and see what the other members of the creative team have done with their machines.
