Sketchabilities Reveal!

It is reveal time again over at Sketchabilities! This month's sketch was a bit of a challenge for me, but once I got rolling it came together nicely.

I decided to use one of the new lines from Kaisercraft and get into the holiday mood. I found some photos we had taken last year of our furry friend Cadbury!

I added Glossy Accents to all the circles on the page. I added extra circles to the Christmas trees and popped them up using foam adhesive.

I am thrilled to say that I have been invited back for another term with Sketchablities. We have the month of December off, so my next reveal will be at the end of January! Be sure to stop over and see what the other members of the team created!

Little Red Wagon #4

For this week's challenge at Little Red Wagon, Deanna challenged us to use buttons......the more the merrier!

I have quite a stash of buttons so this was a fairly easy challenge for me to find supplies for. The question for me was 'what am I going to do with buttons?' I decided to make a flower out of buttons as well as use one of the border embossing folders for the Cuttlebug.....also a button pattern.

I formed a circle of buttons for the base, added a larger button and adhered it with a super glue that works on plastic etc and then added a smaller button to the center to finish it off.

I added some trim and embossed the sentiment using Zing embossing powder.

I also submitted this card to the Card's Blog because their challenge this week was to use 5 or more buttons. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that it will be chosen as one of the featured cards.

Hockey Night!

Tonight is hockey night. These two teams are always fun to watch. London is one of our biggest rivals. Kitchener has a 2 point advantage over the Knights......will they be able to hold on to that?

My fingers are crossed. I am hoping for a safe but competitive game! Go Rangers!

Two Scrapbook Friends Online Crop!

Tonight we are running an online crop at Two Scrapbook Friends! Joanne and I posted a challenge together and we encouraged our scrapbook friends to 'punch it up' using punches on their creations.

I used a scalloped circle punch to create the trees and a Martha Stewart border punch. The decorations on the trees are new Bella Dots (the Mistletoe set). I love them. They sparkle and they have dimension.

If you want to try this out, just punch a couple of scalloped circles and then draw the lines as shown in the photo above. I included 7 bumps at the bottom of the triangle. Use your trimmer to cut along the lines.

Hope you find some time to give this a try! Photobucket

Little Red Wagon #3

I am running a little behind with the Little Red Wagon challenge, but I say 'better late than never'! Karan challenged us to distress......go figure. She loves her blending tool and vintage photo ink. I love them too.

I created these 2 stockings and I inked the edges using vintage photo ink and the ink blending tool.

These stockings were cut using the new Very Merry Tag cartridge for the Cricut. I added strips of cardstock and punched circles to decorate each stocking I added a little piece of ribbon to finish them off.

I hope you stop over to the Little Red Wagon and challenge yourself.

Meet Ella!

I have just been loving the Copic markers and the Stamping Bella stamps. When I first started seeing cards that had been coloured with the markers I often saw images of people. I was not fond of them at all. Then I met Ella!

Isn't she beautiful? I attended a class last weekend and learned how to do the shading around images and also how to do faces. I just love her. The scallop along the top of the card is a Stamping Bella stamp too. It is another one of my favourites.

We did 6 images in total (I only did 3 of them) so I will post the others as I get them done.

Do You Ever Feel Like This?

A dear friend of mine sent this to me today and I thought I would share it with everyone. Do you ever feel like this? I have been feeling like this a lot lately.
I seem to have so many things needing to be done, all at the same time. This made me laugh when I received it and hopefully if you are feeling a little stressed this will brighten your day!

Update on Ben Fanelli!

When I was driving home from the Ranger Game on Friday night I heard that they would be doing a phone interview with Ben Fanelli during the broadcast of the Saturday night game on 570 News. I couldn't wait to find out how he was really doing.

Amanda found a Facebook group that you could post well wishes on and I snagged this photo from there.

This is a photo from a fan at the game.

Here is a longer video of the hit. I still get a sick feeling in my stomach when I watch it.

This is the interview that they played on TV. I was thrilled to see that he seemed to be recovering well. I was also happy to hear that he didn't remember the hit. He still has not actually watched it either. I hope he never remembers that night.

Little Red Wagon Challenge #2

Here we are with challenge #2 at the Little Red Wagon! I am having so much fun being part of this amazing team of girlfriends. Rosanne challenged us to dig into our Christmas scraps from last year and create a card, tag or layout! Those of you that know me realize that I don't like to follow the rules.

I did dig into my scraps and I found this 1/2 sheet of patterned paper. I am not sure if it was last year, the year before or maybe even this year.....but it was a scrap. I decided to make a bow! This was so easy to do and I don't think I will ever buy one again.

Be sure to check out my Friendzy Friday at Two Scrapbook Friends for a tutorial on how to make one for yourself. I will be posting it tomorrow!

Blog Award!

Yippee! I received a blog award. A big thank you to Deanna from the Little Red Wagon challenge blog. She sent one out to everyone on the design team. I send it right back to all of them.

Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary!

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street! I vividly remember watching this show everyday and when my kids were young they watched it too.

Big Bird, Bert & Ernie, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Kermit the Frog and all the other Muppets taught me lots of things and kept me entertained for many years. My favourite character was (and still is) Elmo! Here are a few u-tube videos that I found......I still find them very entertaining.

Happy anniversary Sesame Street! I hope the generations to come have this show to enjoy for as long as I have.

Little Red Wagon Challenge Blog!

I am so excited to be a part of a brand new challenge blog! The Little Red Wagon is a fun place to challenge your creativity! Each Wednesday one of the seven Girlfriends will post a new challenge that we hope will inspire you to try something different with your scrapbooking supplies!

One day a group of girlfriends got together to play with their papers, stamps, markers, ribbons, buttons and the rest of their seemingly endless supply of other 'have-to-have' scrapbooking and card making goodies. It was so much fun to talk, share, laugh and create with each other that they decided to create a blog that would motivate, inspire and challenge them on a weekly basis. They also thought it would be fun to have all the other girlfriends out there join in and share their creations based on the weekly challenges. So, grab your wagon full of goodies (we know you have one!), get creative and have fun!

Today is the first challenge! Be sure to visit the Little Red Wagon blog and join in the fun. Regan challenged us to use some sort of packaging to create our project. The products are usually my focus, but this challenge showed me that the packaging can also be useful too. I think I will be starting a stash of packaging for my future creations!

I decided to use the packaging from Jenni Bowlin's bingo cards. I have always loved these cards. I noticed that the very back card had mini versions of all the cards in the package along with the barcode etc. You will have to excuse my photo.....I was so excited about the challenge I started to cut up the card before taking a photo of it.

I cut out the small images and created this card!

Cardstock - Coordinations, Cuttlebug folder - Swiss Dot, Bingo Card packaging - Jenni Bowlin, Celebrate stamp - Close To My Heart, Scalloped border stamp - Stamping Bella, Ribbon, buttons, floss and bling - miscellanous stuff from my stash!

I hope you take some time and join in this fun challenge. Link your creations in the comment section of the Little Red Wagon blog. See you next week with another great challenge.

Update on Ben Fanelli

Through the Kitchener Rangers website, it was announced at 4pm today that Ben Fanelli's condition has been upgraded to 'serious but stable'. I heard on the news this morning that at the Ranger game on Friday there will be large cards that fans can sign and they will be delivered to Ben and his family.

Halloween Photos

I thought I would share a few Halloween photos. Matt has always been the one in our family that really gets into dressing up. He has won multiple contests in years past. This year he wanted to be a Zombie! Gone are the days that he dresses up in something cute.

On Friday night he was invited to a Halloween party. Here he is with his buddy.

I insisted on going in and getting a group shot. They had a dry ice machine going so the photo is a bit foggy, but I think it adds to the atmosphere of the night.

Jay had a hockey game in Georgetown and Amanda was down with a flu bug, so I didn't get any photos of them. We had lots of candy leftover and Matt came home with more than his share. Fun was had by all.

Sunday, November 1, 2009

I got together with Joanne last night so she could show me some of the techniques she learned at the certification course for Copics. She showed me a lot of really neat things that I can't wait to try.

Amanda has been a little under the weather with this flu bug that has been going around. She was sort of bummed that I was heading across the street and felt that I should be sitting on the couch with her. I assured her I wouldn't be too long. She texted me the entire time I was there, trying to make me feel guilty.

She succeeded, so I made her this card. I used one of the new Stamping Bella stamps that we have in the store along with my Copic markers. I recently picked up some eyelet trim so I added it too! I pierced the border around the card and of course.......it needed a couple of buttons.

She loved the card, and remarkably she is feeling a lot better today.
